Big Pi makes 12 investments in Seed stage (average $3.69M), 6 in Series A (average $9.49M) and 1 in Series B ($30M). They follow a "tech-first" investment approach, focusing on startups with strong intellectual property in AI, biotech, blockchain, and deep tech. A key requirement is that companies maintain substantial operations within Greece.
Marco co-founded Upstream with Alex Vratskides in 2002, was CEO until 2017 reaching €230m revenues and +400 employees until Actis acquired majority in 2014. He's also shareholder and co-founder of Persado, which started as R&D unit within Upstream and was spun out in 2012 with Bain Capital Ventures as lead investors.
Nikos was Partner at Prime Ventures, a pan-European VC with ~$1B AUM, which he joined in 2015. He led investments ranging from €5-€30M per company and invested/served on boards of Blueground, Holidu, aiMotive (acquired by Stellantis), Zappi, and Bright Computing (acquired by NVIDIA).
Eleftheriadis co-founded videoconferencing firm Vidyo and serves as Associate Professor at Columbia University. With over 25 years experience in scientific computing, he created and contributed to widely used Python libraries including NumPy, SciPy, Numba, Conda, and Jupyter.
