This is NYC VC at its most authentic - no Silicon Valley cosplay, just real operators who've been grinding in the city since the late 90s. Their 90% Series A to Series B success rate is legitimately impressive and shows they know how to pick and nurture companies. Founders say they're typically the first call for advice and operational help, which is exactly what you want from a lead investor. The downside? They only do 5-6 deals per year, so competition is fierce. If you're not NYC-based or willing to relocate, don't bother - they're geographically focused and want to jump on the subway to work the whiteboard with you.
- —Best for: NYC founders who want hands-on lead investors with real operating experience
- —Watch out for: Extremely selective - only 5-6 deals per year across entire fund
- —Known for: 90% Series A follow-on rate and being founders' first call for advice
We partner with gritty and determined founders leveraging emerging technologies to build category-defining companies. Our favorite "sector" is a strong founding team applying technology at the confluence of macro trends to build something the market doesn't know it needs yet. We only partner with founders when we believe their company alone can return our entire fund or more.
Invests across stages from seed through growth with majority of capital going to Series A leads. Initial checks of $1 to $6 million for early-stage investments, typically leading rounds of $3 to $15 million. Has had significant success backing companies in fintech, enterprise software, AI, marketplaces, and healthcare, but keeps aperture wide. Only invests in 5-6 companies per year.
Former managing partner of GSA Venture Partners and has spent more than two decades investing in and building New York's tech ecosystem. Known for a distinctive late-stage strategy around "de-bubbling" valuations by focusing on overlooked but fundamentally strong businesses during market downturns.
Former Managing Director at Kodiak Venture Partners and co-founded Tribeca with Brian Hirsch in 2011. Part of the team with over 25 years' experience operating and investing in New York tech.
Prior to joining TVP in 2022, Leo was Head of Venture Capital at NNS Advisers, the family office for Nassef Sawiris. Joined to build out their growth practice. Brings venture scale experience (ex-M12, Split Rock) while maintaining partnership structure.
